Request for Applications: Neuroblastoma Research Grants

Shir for Life (SFL) is pleased to issue a Request for Applications (RFA) for proposals in neuroblastoma research, based on collaboration between Israeli scientists and physicians. Projects must be headed by an Israeli PI, based in one of Israel's research institutions (universities or hospitals).

Proposals will be prioritized for funding based on their potential to contribute to the understanding, prevention, monitoring, and effective treatment of neuroblastoma.

Eligibility

  • Applications are to be submitted by a Principal Investigator (PI) from an Israeli university or hospital, responsible for the research proposed, who will supervise the team carrying out the research.
  • Researchers must hold their academic positions at the time of submission and throughout the grant period.
  • SFL does not allow investigators to simultaneously apply for or hold two SFL grants at the same time.

Grant Details

  • Grant amount: 10,000 USD
  • Grant duration: One year
  • Funding coverage: The grant may be used for expenses related to research materials, services, student fellowships, and animal models. It may not be used for overseas travel.
  • Neither PI salary nor institutional indirect costs are allowable on the budget.
  • The start date of funding may be as early as November 2026, but no later than January 2027 (per the PI's decision). Funds will be provided in December 2026, and no later than January 2027.

Required Documents

Research Proposal (maximum 3 pages, Arial font size 11 or 12, line spacing 1.5 or more):

  • English Abstract
  • Scientific Background: context and literature review
  • Research Objectives: clearly stated aims of the study
  • Detailed Research Plan: methodology, experimental design, preliminary results (if available), statistical analysis, and justification for sample size based on budget constraints
  • Collaborator role and capabilities: 2-page NIH biosketch
  • Budget Justification
  • Bibliography

  • CVs of Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators
  • Approval Letter from all Partners


All documents must be combined into a single PDF and submitted through the online application form by September 1, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Review & Assessment

Each application will be reviewed by members of the SFL scientific committee. Applications will be assessed and rated on the following criteria:

  1. Clear clinical relevance
  2. Scientific rigor
  3. Collaborative approach
  4. Feasible implementation
  5. Defined next steps
  6. Potential for impact

Additional Regulations

  1. Researchers may submit applications to external funding sources concurrently. If another funding source is secured, the Research Committee will assess funding allocation accordingly.
  2. Researchers must acknowledge the support of SFL in any publication resulting from the funded research.
  3. A mandatory final report or published article (with acknowledgment of the organization's support) must be submitted to the Research Committee within one year of the grant award. Failure to do so will affect future funding eligibility. Reports should be sent to einat@shirforlife.com.
